How May I Serve You?
Those 5 words had a phenomenal effect on my life. I actually heard Dr Wayne Dyer speaking about this approach to life and decided to implement it into my own life.
This is not about being subservient or a slave to someone else, in fact quite the opposite.
I wrote these 5 words on a flash card and placed it on my desk. Every morning before just “getting on” with my day and doing my work, I would close my eyes and say those words over and over.
I would be speaking to the Universe in general or you can say that to your God or whatever your beliefs.
The idea is that no matter who we are or what we are doing, we can and should be in service to this universe. When we are in service to the universe and the world we try to look how we can make a positive impact on the world that day and that moment.
You can be the poorest of the poor or the richest of the rich, a high powered executive or you could be cleaning trash – it does not matter.
How may I serve you?
When you are in service to others, you try to make a positive impression in others lives, leaving them feeling better. You then commit to doing your work a little better, not to satisfy your boss, but for the company or end user, you commit to treat the person serving you coffee a little better and give them a sincere greeting, smile and your attention. It affects your approach to life, how you act on the road to rude drivers, how you deal with negative people and how you fulfill your purpose on this planet!
This is an extremely powerful and uplifting little practice that I encourage you to try.
From a personal account not only did it make me feel at peace, ease, fulfilled and my interactions with others being better, but my income actually increased too.
I would pull up a client name and repeat to myself, How Can I Serve You? How can I make your life better?
Then the little parts of my job that annoyed me and yes, some of the annoying client requests smile emoticon, weren’t so annoying, but rather an opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives.
I actually felt better too after doing this.
Try it. You will Love it.
Remember no matter where you are in life and no matter how insignificant you may feel, YOU HAVE A PURPOSE in this Life.
Start by serving others and you will find that there is a burning light within you that will be fueled and fire a little brighter when you do this.
Have a safe, blessed and happy festive season.
